Project overview
The construction of the new Waterside Theatre for the Aylesbury Vale District council. The new building comprised of the construction of a new building in the centre of Aylesbury, a new muti purpose theatre space seating 1200 people and the Norman Bragg studio able to seat 183 people in theatre mode but also can be used with a flat floor and for banqueting.
The mechanical service installation involved the installation of two large air handling units in the roof plantroom serving the main theatre and four other air handling units serving changing facilities, function rooms and bars.
The main public areas are heated by underfloor heating with the primary heat source a ground source heat pump with gas fired boiler back up. The AHU’s, radiators, and domestic hot water are serviced from the gas fired boiler plant.
The ground source heat pumps also provide the chilled water to the air handling units and fan coils units through the building.
Sprinkler system was installed in the lower ground floor areas and backstage with storage tanks located in the basement of the building.
New Domestic hot and cold water and public health systems were provided to all changing facilities and public toilet areas with a rainwater harvesting system utilising rainwater to flush the WCs.
